DIRECTORS NOTES
A sculpture dance and physical theater show with illusionistic techniques. Exodus is the name of the ship that brought the Jews to Palestine in 1947.
The biblical exodus returns in Jewish history as a cyclical recurrence and represents the universal theme of immigration.
Being migrants today is like living the exodus of two thousand years ago.
Emiliano Pellisari and Mariana Porceddu (MARIANA in art ) face together a new initiatory journey crossing deserts that die on the beach.
It is the Mediterranean where our culture sinks or floats, a water that, for us, is an ancient baptism. A show that is linked to the Qohèlet, to Giona, to the terrible force of the sea, to the violence of our nature, to the first exodus in history, the Jewish odyssey.
The dancers-acrobats of Nogravity will enchant us in a succession of images that, evoking our roots, will tell a timeless story, dropped in our days. A journey of suspended souls, of hard breed, born in the dry, which, chased from the earth, pursue the smell of salt. Souls without gravity flow lightly on the earth, light as our unconsciousness that has abandoned them, heavy as only guilt and sin can be.

HISTORY
The desert, a small ship, the sirocco, men, women and children all come together towards us at the behest of nature, that violent nature, which gives birth to the world with a launch, which makes the blood flow from the stones, which to deceive troubles, suffering death or disease or storms, give love, hope, motherhood, happiness! It is a nature that calls them back, that wants them back, that spits them out of the dry and throws them into the wet, that removes the salt and then encrusts them until they shine, that gives them heels and not fins, to sink slowly. These are suspended souls, they do not weigh down the seas or consciences, and flow lightly on the earth.
INTRODUCTION
Stone people, hard stone, born in the dry, feet that support the high, feet that trample the stones, feet that follow the feet, that leave nothing behind them, nothing ahead, that abandon the dry chasing a sun that plunges into the sea, broken by the waves they become foam and no longer damned but light.
STONE MEN
"They descended the steps, covered their heads and loosened their clothes, and threw the stones needed behind them. The stones, and who would believe it if it were not for ancient tradition, began to lose their rigidity and hardness, and after a while softened, and once softened acquired new form. Then after growing, and ripening in nature, a certain likeness to a human shape could be vaguely seen, like marble statues at first inexact and roughly carved. The earthy part, however, wet with moisture, turned to flesh; what was solid and inflexible mutated to bone; the veins stayed veins; and quickly, through the power of the gods, stones the man threw took on the shapes of men, and women were remade from those thrown by the woman. So the toughness of our race, our ability to endure hard labour, and the proof we give of the source from which we are sprung." Metamorphoses Bk I:390-415 The human race is re-created.
WE ARE WALKERS
Chased away from the earth, never seed fell further from its own tree, sprouted behind the desert growing towards the sea pushed by the scorching and biting sirocco. Millions of steps, double to count them, we are feet and we know the ground, we bear the weight. We follow the smell of salt, the end of the earth, we do not look at the back, only the first has a high eye, all the others follow heels. We leave no footprints but only lives that pave the way.
THE STORM AND THE BIG FISH

On the ground there are only prayers, no one invokes or begs for help, the God of everyone is no longer to blame, he is the king of the universe who greets each other. When the food is finished, we empty ourselves whispering, when the water is finished we lick the dew, when the cold arrives it vibrates like the wind, stiff as stones, white with salt, the inert's eyes close, the clouds flow in their pupils.
They cover us from the cold! The first wave hits, from a distance they look like hills, then an angry herd. Men dig the sea with all their might, the wind growls, they return the sea to the sea!

Who sowed the wind? Who made the sea angry? Who? do you want the sea? Snatched from his arms, the sea devoured him. And man let himself be eaten by the sea and the fish. In the dark he found peace, no more jolts of the waves. Under your feet and over your head the warmth of a slow heart, like his breath, like sleep that traced him back to his age. Kum! Kum! Kum! And spat it out!
THE CELEBRATION. THE LOVE. THE DEATH.
The ship sways, with the sinuous waves swaying its sides, the ship glides and sways like women, the wind stops like women, the wind no longer screams like women.
The last puffs anticipate the calm and lay the exhausted women on their shells. They caress the water as the light breeze caresses their bodies.
“The woman whose heart is full of tricks and nets, and whose hands are as bands." Qhoèlet 7:26
THE SON OF THE SEA

The ship sways, with the sinuous waves swaying its hips, the ship glides and sways like women, the wind stops like women, the wind no longer screams like women, the last breaths anticipate the calm and lay the exhausted women on the shell. They caress the water as the light breeze caresses their bodies.
The storm is over, a woman's song breaks the silence of the sea, the song and the sea want to lull . The salted milk is ready to drip.
The time to be born, only that. It goes from one water to another without land. Not even his name had light.
THE LAST STORY
The sea still cradles, and still desires. Thought pushes behind and the wind pushes forward. To deceive death they tell their lives, even the broken ones, they tell the old stories that know of freedom, of dignity. They tell each other, they tell and they tell and whisper until they resemble the sound of the sea, they are like the sea. They are now our sea.
"All the rivers go down to the sea, but the sea is not full; to the place where the rivers go, there they go again."
